Wal-Mart Gaga

Shanghai has 2 Wal-Mart stores. Had to of course go check it out. It is not too convenient to get there, had to take and transfer to different subway lines and when we got out of the subway it decided to down pour. But we made it! I thought the people were looking at us because we were wet, Todd thought it was because we were the only Westerners in the store. Who knows. I liked the store, it is a Chinese version of Wal-Mart. They even sell Chinese Great Value products and other different items such as strawberry Oreos. We did pick out some laundry soap, since Todd packed only a few items, we do wash every night so we are almost out of the laundry soap the JW provided us. We found the same brand at Wal-mart, it has a cat on the package but the ones in the store were lemon scented, ours was not. I couldn’t get lemon scented, I liked the one we had. I turned the corner and found Chinese Tide, which was cheaper than the Cat brand anyway. Something to get use to is how meat is purchased and displayed in the grocery stores. I really don’t think I am going to be eating any meat unless it comes from the golden arches. While in the store, we both looked at each other when we started hearing something that sounded like Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, it was Bad Romance and it was actually Lady Gaga! I saw that for yesterday we saw a video of someone singing La Isla Bonita by Madonna and it wasn’t Madonna… I can’t imagine Madge would give up the rights to that song for another artist to sing it. Anyway.. They must have the CD for after we heard Alejandro. Do Wal-Marts at home even play Gaga? Some photos of the Wal-mart adventure:

Sounds like your visit to Wal-Mart in Shanghai was an adventure just like they are here! Thank you for posting photos… even though I’m still gasping about the meat one. :-O
Enjoy laundry and fake Madonna music. Miss you!
