While out running with our small but mighty running group we are often met with stares, mockery (it is nice… a 80 year old woman will all of a sudden start running and laughing with her friends at us) and the occasional Jiayou! Flashback to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Jiayou means more oil, or add oil. Are they telling me to go faster? I had to consult with my colleagues on the meaning of this. It just means support and encouragement. I love hearing it and use it with others who are out in the million degrees and humidity exercising. Next time cheering on someone give them a jiayou!
