To say HELLO in Mandarin Chinese, phrase books often list Hello= Ni Hao or “Knee How” as it is phonetically.  It is the only word I currently know in Chinese.  This is important for I am relocating to Shanghai, China.

I lived in Orlando, FL population 230.519, 82nd Largest City in the US (2000 census) for 15 years.

Originally, I am from Sunderland, MA population 3,777 (2000 census)

Moving to Shanghai, China population 14, 173,000, 6th largest city in the world (2000 census) GULP!

The purpose of the blog is to keep friends, family, and anyone else who is interested up to date of my adventures and experiences in Shanghai.

Knee How Shanghai!

January 2015 Update: Aloha! I have moved back to the USA after over 4 years in China. If interested my repatriation adventures can be followed at Howzit HI

Hi, Rebecca. Our mutual friend Susan Kendrick emailed me about you living in Shanghai. That’s fantastic! I’m going to China for a week in October. Will be in Shanghai Oct 18-21. It’s an Orlando Chamber tour. I understand a # of chambers around the country are taking advantage of the fantastic tour rate offered for a week in Beijing and Shanghai (with tours to surrounding areas). What made you decide to move to Shanghai? How long will you be there?

I look forward to hearing about your adventures.

How wonderful Mary! Have a wonderful trip! Do you get the cruise the Yantze? I haven’t had a chance to do that. We have visited China twice for vacation and just loved it. Please stay in touch and let me know if you need anything and of course I want to know about the trip!

Now I know everything I need to know about your upcoming journey. Thanks for publishing this blog and for giving me an opportunity to post my first message on someone else’s blog. HOLY COW! This is almost as exciting as seeing George Michael on Eli Stone. OK, maybe not that exciting, but it is my first blog EVER. I look forward to an insider’s view of “The LOOP”. Keep ‘m comin”.

Rebecca, I’m a Beijing freelance journalist doing a story on smoking at Chinese weddings. Would you be able to talk to me?
